Composition: Nicardipine HCl
Indication: Hypertensive Emergency. Acute Hypertensive Crisis during Surgery
Dosage : Emergency treatment of acute hypertensive crisis during surgery 2-10 mcg/kg/min by IV drip infusion until desired BP value is reached & adjusted there after with monitoring to maintain BP. For rapid BP reduction, administer intact at a
dose of 10-30 mcg/kg by IV inj. Hypertensive emergencies 0.5-6 mcg/kg/min by IV
drip infusion at a rate of 0.5 mcg/kg/min until desired BP value is reached & adjusted
thereafter w/ monitoring to maintain BP.
Contraindication: Suspected incomplete hemostasis following intracranial hemorrhage; elevated intracranial pressure at acute stage of cerebral stroke.
Abrupt withdrawal. Hepatic or renal dysfunction, aortic stenosis. Elderly. Children.
Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reaction: dyspnea, thrombocytopenia, hepatic dysfunction,jaundice, tachycardia, palpitations, facial flushing, general malaise; BUN or creatinine elevation; nausea, vomiting. Headache, fever, .
Drug Interactions: Saquinavir, ritonavir, other hypotensive drugs, b-blockers, fentanyl, digoxin,
phenytoin, rifampicin, cimetidine. Immunosuppressants, dantrolene Na,
tandospiron citrate, nitroglycerine, muscle relaxants.
